Wedding Memories

While it feels like every couple is trying to master ‘adulting’ by sending out save the dates, paying deposits and finalising hen and stag dos, there are those that are on the flip side trying to catch up after the honeymoon period becomes a distant memory. I too succumbed to the rigour of every day life after our wedding, and embarrassed to admit, it took almost me almost three years to even frame my own wedding pictures. Every now and then a customer will come in and ask for something wedding related to me framed or preserved. Now 9 times out of 10 they’ll say, said object has been sitting in a tube/drawer/cupboard for the last <insert lengthy time period> years. So this is where I start this blog, chatting about little tidbits about my profession as a framer. Now the above narrative is not exclusive to the wedding theme, instead it relates to maybe half of the things I frame. Something that someone thought was special enough to keep, then life got in the way and slowly that thing got less important and then one day you’re clearing out your drawer and it catches your attention. As a framer I get the opportunity to frame some incredible items however the point in framing isn’t about getting something in a condition to get on your living room wall. Instead it is about creating a way to showcase your items so that they continuously make you reminisce. An experienced framer will help guide you on the best way to exhibit your piece. Simple or fancy, large or small if you think it’s special then chances are it probably evokes some sort of happiness and is worth showing you off. On that note, a gentleman came in to my workshop recently with a collection of things relating to his wedding reception table plan. He knew he wanted someway to display it but was unsure on how to create something atheistically pleasing. Fast forward to the final result below.
